Awoman has been convicted after she illegally parked in a disabled parking space and tried to use someone’s blue badge to get away with it. Georgia Kouka was caught using the badge by a civil enforcement officer who checked her details when he saw the badge.
The 61-year-old, or Arundel Drive, Watford, had parked her car in the disabled bay on Shenley Road, in Borehamwood, on June 1. She displayed the genuine blue badge which had been issued by Hertfordshire County Council in her vehicle.
But when a civil enforcement officer for Hertsmere Borough Council asked to inspect the badge, he found it did not belong to Ms Kouka but was her mother’s. The badge was seized by the officer and the case was referred to the Shared Anti-Fraud Service.
At St Albans Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (December 21), Ms Kouka pleaded guilty to charges under section 117 of The Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984. She was sentenced to a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay a contribution towards council costs.
