Jaguar car seized after owner used blue badge belonging to someone who died
A council officer checked the car and waited for the driver to return
A driver in Nottingham has had their vehicle seized after using a blue badge belonging to someone who had died.
Nottingham City Blue Badge and Permit Compliance made the discovery on Wednesday, September 1.
The group said the Jaguar driver had their blue badge checked and it did not belong to them – instead belonging to someone who had already passed away.
The officer says they offered a number of excuses for having the badge, but still had their vehicle seized.
The group said in a statement: “Nice bit of of free parking for this Jaguar driver. Until now.
“A patrolling parking team Nottingham officer has checked and the blue badge being used is for someone who has died. I’m here – waiting.”
A later tweet said: “A few reasons why the driver was using this blue badge: a)’I have no money’ – carrying shopping bags b) ‘I was really quick’ – time clock set for two hours ago c) ‘I’ve picked the wrong one up’ – that person was at home d) ‘don’t know rules’ – knew could park for free though. Seized.”
