A man has been ordered to pay hundreds of pounds after using a fraudulent disabled person’s badge when parked in a disabled parking spot.
Nigel Stock, of Hutchins Lane, Watersheddings, parked in a disabled spot on Lloyd Street in Manchester, on November 11, 2021.
At Manchester Magistrates’ Court on October 21, the 48-year-old pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation.
Stock was made to pay a fine of £477, a victim surcharge of £47 and court costs of £250, bringing his total costs to £774.
A man has been sentenced after he was found carrying three knives in Bradford.
Shamus Alam, of Lees Road, Oldham, was on Dick Lane in Bradford on July 24 when he was found to be carrying three kitchen knives without good reason or lawful authority.
He pleaded guilty on September 9 and was sentenced at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court on October 25.
The 36-year-old was given a community order, requiring him to attend a maximum of 25 days of Rehabilitation Activity Requirement with a responsible officer. He must complete the community order by October 24, 2023.
Alam was also made to pay a victim surcharge of £114 and court costs of £85, bringing his total costs to £199.
He was also made to forfeit the three knives to West Yorkshire Police in the interest of public safety.
A man has been given a suspended prison sentence for stealing 25 pairs of socks from a shop.
Renars Simanis, of Deva Square, Freehold, stole 25 pairs of Bamboo socks from Clintons in Oldham on February 13.
At Manchester Magistrates’ Court on October 18, Simanis pleaded guilty to theft and was given an eight-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.
The 33-year-old was already serving a community order for theft which was set in June when he was sentenced, and this community order will continue.
He displayed what was a fraudulent disabled person’s badge, therefore making a gain for himself at the loss of another.
